Team Bee gets married: Arriving in Alaska

After months of preparation, it was finally time to pack and fly to Alaska!  Luckily, our flights were very non-eventful!

We had an early morning flight, meaning we had to leave for the airport at 3am.  We utilized the Super Shuttle service, which picks you up and takes you to the airport, so no need to worry about a car sitting in the airport parking lot!  Totally recommend this!

Sammy did really well in his kennel.  We had been prepping him for a few weeks, by leaving the kennel out so he could get “reacquainted” with it.

It totally worked!  He would go over to it, and just cuddle inside it!  hehe

Last year, he just HATED it.  He would not go near it at any point, and hated his time inside it.  I never keep him in a kennel except for traveling.  I mean, he sleeps on the bed all day long, I don’t see a need for it.  But, he does like being cuddled in small places, so I always thought he might like the kennel.  I think it helps him feel secure to be surrounded by blankets and warm places.

Our flight was Denver to Seattle, and Seattle to Anchorage.

In the airplane:

Brunch on the airplane!

Waiting in the Seattle airport:

We tried to get Sammy to pee in the potted plant… no luck.  haha!

Once we arrived in Anchorage the plan was :  Rob’s mom would meet us, and pick us up.  We would hightail it over to the Bureau of Vital Statistics to pick up the marriage license. Our plane was supposed to get in at 4pm, and they closed at 5.  We figured if everything went smoothly with picking up our luggage, and we could get over there without too much traffic issues (about a 15 minute drive), we should be good.

Luckily, we made it!  We are officially licensed to wed!

Whew!  Once that was done, Bernie took us back to the airport, and we picked up our rental car.

Meanwhile, the flowers had arrived!  I ordered the flowers from Fiftyflowers.com, which I had heard conflicting reviews from.  However, it is the only place I saw with a sunflower bridal bouquet that I really liked.  So I went with it!  The flowers were scheduled to arrive on the same day that we were scheduled to arrive in Alaska.  I had told practically everyone that the flowers were coming via Fed Ex, and would be at Bernie’s house before 4:30 pm.  When we got to her house, I saw them in all their gloriousness!  I  really really loved my flowers.  They were so beautiful, and I LOVED my bouquet!

Once I arrived at Bernie’s house, I saw my parents!  They had arrived in Alaska a few days before and were staying with Bernie. We unpacked our suitcases and headed over to Jen’s (Rob’s sister) for dinner and to see everyone!  (Yes, all the wedding guests had already arrived, we were the last ones to get in to Alaska!)

Ashley getting reacquainted with Sammy.  He looks thrilled, don’t you think?

Love the hats!

I really love Rob’s family.  They always make me feel welcome, and gave up their houses and lives for the time we were there.  They have welcomed me with open arms from the first time I met them.  I could not have a better new family!  Love you guys!

And then I was officially exhausted!  So good to be there!  I told Rob — the next couple days are going to fly by!

Coming up next –  Rob’s bachelor fishing charter and we prepare for the PWCD – pre-wedding celebration dinner!

Miss a recap?
