I’ve been feeling a case of the blahs recently. Maybe it is summer coming to a close – although I love fall and winter!! Or maybe it is because I just “feel” like something is going to happen .. things are going to change, not sure why, just a feeling I have.
However, today is a super happy today! It is our first year wedding anniversary!!
Hard to believe a year ago today, we got married! In Alaska! You can read all about our wedding here.

If only I had know of Jan’s sunflower jelly then, I could have turned my wedding flowers into jelly!!!! Wouldn’t that have been so cool???

Someday I will share the recipe for our triple layer lemon wedding cake – it was so good! I wanted a cake that I could make every year for us on our anniversary. I don’t know if I am going to make it this year – I have to make it gluten free now! Definitely something to work on!
This is the Aurora Borealis we saw on our honeymoon at Denali National Park!! So cool!
So I guess we are officially not newlyweds anymore!

I’ll have to post a picture of what my hubby got me for our anniversary — he made a photo book (through Shutterfly) with pictures of us throughout our first year! Sooo sweet, and it had to have taken him forever!! Something to treasure forever for sure!!!

You were such a beautiful bride! Happy first anniversary! I still say you are newlyweds–it’s all inperspective. When I was getting a prescription once, I got into a conversation with an elderly man. He asked if I was a newlywed and I said no (I had been married 3 years). He said, “I’m a newlywed, this makes 40 years!” LOL! My neighbor still calls us the “newlyweds” although we’ve been married 12 years now. So yeah, in my book you’re still a newlywed.

Thanks! It was soooo cool to see the Aurora. At first he looked at me, and I looked at him and we were like … did you see that? Then it really started to show! The funny thing is we were at a campsite, and there were people right next to us that had no clue!! First time I had ever seen it, so awesome!

I knew I wanted Sammy to be a part of the wedding, and since it was an outdoor wedding my niece was in charge of Sammy-sitting during the wedding! I love how the tux turned out! Since sunflowers are my favorite, I knew I wanted them as my flowers, and found a place that shipped them to Alaska, so it worked out perfectly!
Congratulations, Jane! May you two have decades and decades more! And the Aurora Borealis seems to be a sign of good fortune on your marriage.

Happy late anniversary! My first wedding anniversary wasn’t so happy. We went a couple hours out of town, and by the time I got there, I was very sick with chest pains and had to spend several hours in the ER. There was nothing wrong, but after that, I just wanted to go home, so my husband took me home, ugh!
I really enjoyed your wedding photos, and you looked great in your wedding dress! I think you’re the first person I’ve “known” to use sunflowers as their bridal bouquet. I think that’s unique and creative.
